An app for those who want to enjoy a delicious drink in the comfort of their own home. Happy Hour focuses on each individual user by personalizing a drink recipe based on ingredients found in the user’s kitchen.

Design Challenge

The biggest challenge this project presented was designing a layout that allowed users to successfully input ingredients and navigate to a corresponding recipe in an intuitive yet dynamic manner.

User Research

To better understand the target audience, 92 adults of legal drinking age were surveyed. 67.4% of those surveyed said that if given a recipe, they would consider making their own drinks instead of consuming them elsewhere. 72.9% look for new drink recipes to make once or twice a year. With these results, it is clear that there is a market for a personalized cocktail app.

Understanding the Market

Existing products on the market that accomplish similar goals display comprehensive lists of known drinks on the market but are unable to input personalized ingredients to cross reference available recipes. Focusing on personalizing ingredients allows for a unique concept and a successful interface.

Ideation

The application was designed with the user in mind. After analyzing the current drinking habits of those surveyed, sketches and wireframes were developed to display the users favorite and most needed features.

Introducing Happy Hour

The final product consists of an app with a myriad of features that allow the user to select ingredients to populate related recipes, browse featured drinks and interact with friends.
